Nanowires get sensitive one by one
Abstract:
Nanoscale sensor array could monitor hundreds of molecules at once in a tiny sample volume. But how do you make each sensor sensitive to a different molecule?
James Heath of the California Institute of Technology and his co-workers ... have now shown that the individual addressability of each wire can be used to attach different chemical groups to the surface, giving each wire a different selectivity for molecular binding
