Dr. Michael Postek, NIST to Keynote 2008 Micro and NanoManufacturing Events

Abstract:
The Society of Manufacturing Engineers (SME) announced that Dr. Michael T. Postek, chief of the precision engineering division at the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) has been confirmed as the keynote speaker for both the MicroManufacturing and NanoManufacturing Conferences. The events are scheduled April 22-23, 2008 at the Framingham Sheraton in Framingham, Mass.

Postek's presentation entitled "You Can't Make It If You Can't Measure It" will discuss the challenges faced in the development of the necessary instrumentation, metrology, and standards for micro and nano manufacturing that is scaleable, controllable, predictable, and repeatable to meet market needs. He has been involved with micro and nano-scale scanning electron microscope-based length metrology for over 20 years and has published over 200 papers, articles and book chapters on this and related topics.
