Local scientists find molecule alignment method
Abstract:
Korean scientists have discovered a simple way to align cylindrical carbon molecules on substrates and circuit boards, opening new horizons for the mass production of various electronic components, a local university said Wednesday (Jan. 30).
Seoul National University said the team led by Suh Kahp-yang and Kim Pil-nam used a so-called scalable method for one-dimensional alignment of single-walled carbon nanotubes (SWCNTs) to control the flow of the molecules.
Nanotubes are structures made from carbon molecules that may have extensive next-generation industrial applications. They have electricity conductivity that is 1,000 times better than that of copper, are stronger than steel and have heat transfer abilities similar to diamonds.
