Abstract:
Iranian scientists have used nanocrystal technology to produce a highly-effective vaccine against multidrug-resistant tuberculosis.
The new vaccine is made of a single nanoparticle which changes the mycobacterium structure and destroys it.
Researchers have also created a new implantable drug delivery system called 'nanocups', which helps transfer drugs or other substances to target cells.
These nanostructured materials can find the target organ in the bloodstream and inject the drug or any other compound on their biological membranes into the organ.
Shahid Beheshti University scientists believe the new nanoshells are more developed than the available nanocapsules and have shown promising results in treating patients suffering from refractory illnesses.
