Nano Jersey: business, government plant industry in garden state
Abstract:
Boosters of nanotechnology think "Prey," Michael Crichton's 2003 novel featuring a cloud of tiny but murderous self-replicating machines, is a bunch of hooey. To them, nanotech is a nascent industry with the potential to transform the world and propel the state's economy. Nanotechnology, the manipulation of material at the atomic and molecular scale, is serious business. Just last fall, researchers at Rutgers-Newark received a $1 million grant from the National Science Foundation to use nanotechnology to develop hybrids of organic and inorganic materials.
