Abstract:
Stion (www.stion.com), a next-generation solar photovoltaic company developing high-efficiency thin-film modules using proprietary materials, announced that it has hired Vineet Dharmadhikari as Senior Vice President of Engineering and Chief Operating Officer. Dr. Dharmadhikari will oversee all of Stion's engineering and manufacturing / operations efforts as it continues its product development.
Dr. Dharmadhikari, a semiconductor industry veteran with 27 years of experience, joins Stion from KLA-Tencor, a provider of process control and yield management solutions for semiconductors and related industries, where he worked as Vice President / General Manager for the Metrology Division. "Vineet brings an exceptional skill set to Stion that will be an excellent fit for our scale-up and production efforts," said Chet Farris, Stion's President and CEO. "He has a unique combination of semiconductor manufacturing and thin-film engineering experience, as well as a strong track record of leadership and management skills."
Prior to joining KLA-Tencor, Dr. Dharmadhikari spent six years at Novellus Systems, Inc., a leading supplier of process tools to the semiconductor industry with over $1 billion in revenues, where he served in various senior management positions, including Vice President and General Manager of their PECVD business Unit. Dr. Dharmadhikari also spent more than eight years in various engineering and product development roles at Intevac Systems and Genus Inc. (now Aixtron AG), including Vice President of Engineering and Vice President of R&D.
Prior to joining Genus, Dr. Dharmadhikari held the position of Senior Principal Engineer at Harris Semiconductors, a leader in the design and manufacturing of analog & custom CMOS integrated circuits. He also spent more than three years as a Harris assignee to SEMTACH and was involved in its start-up. Dr. Dharmadhikari holds his PhD in Thin-film Physics from National Chemical Laboratory in Pune, India and completed his post-doctoral research in Electrical Engineering at the University of New Mexico, where he worked with photovoltaics and other semiconductor devices.
