Home > Press > NaturalNano to Present at 11th Annual Nano Science and Technology Institute's Nanotech 2008 in Boston
Abstract:
NaturalNano, Inc. (OTCBB: NNAN) (FWB: N3N), a developer of advanced nanomaterials and extended release nanotechnologies, today announced that Polymer Research Director Dr. Bob Daly will present "Halloysite Nanotubes in Polymers" at the Nanotech 2008 Conference in Boston on Wednesday, June 4, 2008 at 10:30 a.m. EDT. The conference will be held at the Hynes Convention Center.
"This conference is an opportunity for NaturalNano to showcase the industry-leading properties of our proprietary nanocomposite additive, Pleximer™, and the multitude of advantages it holds for industries ranging from plastics to cosmetics," said Daly. "In addition, NaturalNano will have the opportunity to highlight the ongoing research and development initiatives that have earned us a number of funded projects and joint development agreements with global consumer product manufacturers."
Daly's presentation will discuss the advantages of Halloysite Nanotubes™ (HNT) -- a naturally occurring member of the kaolin family of aluminoslicate clays which can be dispersed in a variety of polymers to produce nanocomposites with a number of commercially desirable physical properties. For example, applications of Pleximer, of which HNT is a key component, range from high-quality coating finishes to lighter and more durable office furniture. In addition, the unique hollow tube structure of HNT enables NaturalNano to fill the tubes with a variety of additives that can be slowly released over time, extending the life of products such as sun block or other cosmetics.
Nanotech 2008 is the largest and most comprehensive technical and business event in the nanotechnology field worldwide, featuring more than 30 technical and business symposia. The event is scheduled to run from June 1 - 5; a full schedule of events and presentations is available on the NSTI website at www.nsti.org/Nanotech2008.
