The hirings reaffirm Janney's commitment to strengthening the Equity Research department, continuing to focus on the Firm's research product and strategically investing in Janney's Research verticals of infrastructure, financials and consumer.

Equity Capital Markets Director, Jordie Maine, explained, "Our vision is to continue to build a very focused research product and to establish ourselves as thought leaders. To Janney, Schatz brings a wealth of industry knowledge and a history of involvement in growing successful, sell-side businesses over the course of his career. Joining the Firm from Stifel Nicholas, where he was Director of Product Management, Schatz also served as the North American Product Manager, Co-Chair of the Investment Committee and Chair of the Deal Marketing Committee with Deutsche Bank Alex.Brown. In these capacities, he worked very closely with all constituencies throughout the organization. Schatz earned his B.A. from Johns Hopkins University and his M.B.A. from the University of Pittsburgh.

Dr. Roy brings to Janney nearly 15 years of financial service experience and over 25 years of professional experience relating to the tech sector. In his most recent role at Global Crown Capital, he served as Senior Executive Director, expanding the firm's coverage of Alternative Energy and Nanotechnology, as well as launching the firm's first coverage of a Dubai International Exchange listed company. Prior to that position, he served as Senior Research Analyst at WR Hambrecht & Co. and as Director, Merrill Lynch Equity Research. While with Merrill, he also served as the lead storage analyst, hardware analyst and technology strategist. In addition, Dr. Roy has extensive experience working in the technology field, holding positions in software consulting, network engineering and sales.

Dr. Roy earned is BSEE from the University of Southern California, San Diego, where, as a Regents Scholar, he studied communication theory, computer science and management science. He also earned his MSEE as a Hughes Masters Fellow at the University of Southern California in satellite communication and computer architecture. Furthering his education, Dr. Roy earned his MSCS and Ph.D. as a Hughes Doctoral Fellow at the University of California, Irvine, in computer science, specializing in computer architecture.
