Panasonic announces new home solar energy system using Sanyo technology
Abstract:
Panasonic Corp. and Sanyo Electric Co. announced Monday their new home solar energy system -- the firms' first joint product since Panasonic took over Sanyo at the end of last year -- will go on sale July 1.
Investment in the HIT-215 Series home solar system is part of Panasonic's plan to expand domestic sales of Panasonic Group solar energy technology to 450,000 kilowatts of capacity by fiscal 2012 -- or 3.6 times the total for fiscal 2009. Through the acquisition of Sanyo, Panasonic now has a more than 20 percent share of the Japanese solar technology market, and the firm is aiming to boost that to an industry-leading 35 percent or higher.
