Six universities in Jharkhand to get Rs 100-cr for research centres

Abstract:
Six universities of the State will get financial assistance to establish research centres. Vice-chancellors of the six universities of the State presented their reports to the HRD Department for developing a centre for advance study in every university on Friday.

The UGC has granted Rs 100 crore to develop State research centres as per the guidelines of Governor Syed Sibtey Razi. The six universities include Ranchi University, Vinoba Bhave University, Birsa Agricultural University (BAU), Sido-Kanho University, BIT and Nilambar Pitambar University.

Ranchi University selected the Institute of Natural Resources and Management System as its centre. While BIT has selected Nanotechnology department, Nilambar-Pitambar University has proposed Centre for Information Technology and Sustainable Development with focus on drought and water as its centre.

As every university has to submit one proposal, RU asked for Institute of Natural Resource and Management System. The project will cost Rs 58 crore. In the first year, they will get Rs 20.5 crore.
